I think it's a low cost alternative worth considering and if you do extensive research and careful planning, outsourcing sounds like a very good option.

Aside from cost efficiency, experienced staff, and improved ROI, I think outsourcing takes the burden off of the company who's wanting to opt for in house telemarketing.

Great tips! I think it's also important to genuinely want to talk to your customer. Of course, you're banking on the thought that you'd be able to sell but it's also important to not make the customer feel that you are.
